“Hell is other people” wrote Jean-Paul Sartre in his famous philosophical play. The Compagnie du Carreau, a French theatre group based in London recreated frozen hell on the stage of the Bhavan Theatre in December 2007 to really great effect. What is revealed about the three of them is that their crimes are essentially existential in nature; and here Sartre very wisely chooses not to interrupt the flow of the play to explain or analyse them. The single location setting of the story was well mirrored in the staging of the play, which included a wide range of strong performances.
